As a main component, the anti-oxidant Quercetin has been shown to both prevent allergic reactions and suppress responses already underway.  Bromelain, an enzyme found naturally in pineapple, has been shown to in synergism with Quercetin, suppress inflammation of allergic reactions and increase the latter’s absorption. Magnesium has been added to buffer the bromelain in the blood, whilst also buffering the immune enhancing Vitamin C’s negative effect on the stomach barrier. As an anti-oxidant, Vitamin C further inhibits the oxidative degradation of quercetin. Calcium’s entry into the body’s mast cells and basophils has been shown to be a key part of triggering allergic histamine release – the added magnesium also acts as a calcium-channel blocker to reduce this effect.

Various other actives have been added due to their possession of significant immunomodulatory and anti-microbial activity, but also to provide a mild control for headache often experienced during allergic reactions.
