VITAMINS, HERBAL & ANTI-AGING :: Aids in repairing and protecting the liver
:: Promotes healthy liver cell growth, reproduction and inflammation
:: Supports treatment of certain liver conditions
:: Antioxidant that boosts the immune system
The collective name for the active compounds in the milk thistle plant is silymarin. It is believed that silymarin prevents toxins from invading the liver and promotes new healthy cell growth to repair liver damage. Milk thistle is also thought to have an antioxidant action, boost the immune system, stabilize liver cell membranes, increase cell reproduction and prevent inflammation in the liver cells. It also seems to protect the liver from the excesses of alcohol by eliminating hydroxy-ethyl radicals released when the alcohol compounds are broken down. Milk thistle also helps maintain normal liver function in healthy individuals by providing nutritional support and has shown positive effects in treating various liver conditions, including necroses, cirrhosis, hepatitis and liver damage caused by drug and alcohol abuse. (Note: if you have any liver condition, first consult your healthcare practitioner before use)
