The herb, Tribulus terrestris (also known as Puncture Vine) has been linked to an increased release of luteinizing hormone (LH) in the brain. The luteinizing hormone acts upon the Leydig cells of the testes and is associated with the production of the male sex hormone, testosterone. Increasing low testosterone levels may enhance muscle growth, energy levels and sex drive.

Testosterone is a natural anabolic steroid which produces muscle. It is available on prescription, much cheaper than synthetic anabolic steroids and very difficult to detect in drug tests. Testosterone has two modes of action, androgenic (masculinizing) and anabolic (tissue building). The androgenic action produces maleness, broader features, more hair, deeper voice and larger sex organs. The anabolic action produces larger muscles and greater strength. Exceeding the normal natural level of testosterone may lead to aggression, violent anxiety, paranoia and manic-depressive reactions.
